Cristiano Ronaldo, a four-time winner of the trophy, is among 30 candidates to win the 2016 French Football Ball, the French magazine said.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the only Portuguese named, has won the prize in 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2016 in the two half-seasons in a France Football / FIFA partnership, and can match five Argentinian Lionel Messi awards (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015 ).

In 2016/17, the captain of the Portuguese team won the Champions League in the service of Real Madrid, where he was the best scorer in the final (4-1 to Juventus), the Spanish League, the European Supercup and the Spanish Super Cup.

Faced with these achievements, Ronaldo is considered by the media to be the great favorite to revalidate the award, and Lionel Messi, the great star of Barcelona and Argentina, will be his great rival.

As regards nationalities, 20 are European, with a majority of French (four), eight South Americans and two Africans.
